The Edge community of thinkers are trying to tackle the question “what is your dangerous idea?” – ideas that will change the world if they turn out to be true.

There’s a lot about relativity, on all levels from physical to social, the fact that this life is all there is and that the Earth is the only life around (there’s a bias towards scientists, economists and philosophers) but I was particularly taken by the idea of cyber-disinhibition, that the Internet could be stunting the last stages of biological brain growth in the teens and early twenties.

An awful lot to chew on.

A great way to get a background on some of these topics is to listen to In Our Time, the BBC radio series exploring the history of ideas. The programmes about artificial intelligence, and the gravitron, are recommended.
